Ilah
Hospital Manager
Ilah is a Staten Island, NY, native, but has lived in New Jersey for many years now. Before pursuing her dream of working in the veterinary field, Ilah worked on Wall Street in the bond industry for 10 years. Once joining the field in 2002, Ilah worked her way up from a receptionist to ultimately Hospital Administrator over 20 years. Ilah had then left the field for close to 2 years before it once again called to her, bringing her to CAH! Ilah is an animal lover but has a particular fondness for felines. She has a very sassy and special calico named Molly and a sweet ginger girl named Penny. In her free time, Ilah enjoys spending time with her husband, Howie, family, and friends. She loves music, going to see bands, movies, wine tasting, and bird watching. Ilah also has a resin art business.
Lisa
Receptionist
Lisa joined our team as a receptionist at Colonial Animal Hospital in the Fall of 2024. Originally from New Jersey and always up for an adventure, Lisa moved to New Mexico in 2003, and during the 12 years she spent out there, she managed a veterinary hospital and ran her own pet sitting business. She moved back to NJ in 2015 and is glad to be back helping clients keep their pets healthy and happy. When not working, Lisa spends as much time as possible, enjoys walking in the woods, reading, learning about new technology, and spending time with Riley, her feline buddy.
Amanda
Veterinary Assistant
Amanda comes from a family of animal lovers and grew up right down the road in Freehold, NJ. She has worked in the veterinary field for 16 years and loves working at Colonial. Amanda’s favorite parts of her job are answering questions from pet owners, taking care of patients (she has a soft spot for grumpy and feral cats), and spending her work days with great coworkers. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys hiking with her dogs Cricket and Roach, and reading a good book with her cats Quasi and Gemma Mae.
Brianna
Veterinary Assistant
Brianna grew up in Long Branch, NJ, and has been in the vet field for 2 years. She always loved animals growing up, and was inspired to get into the field because of her childhood beagle mix, Bela. Now she has a pittie mix named Princess. Her favorite thing about working at CAH is being around people who are supportive and kind. “There’s a great work environment here, and I love learning from all of my co-workers.” Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and exploring new places.
Taylor
Veterinary Assistant
Taylor grew up in Marlboro, NJ, and from a young age had a love and passion for animals. She has grown up with dogs always being in the house, and knew that a career in helping animals was her goal. Taylor began her journey with animals by working at a local dog grooming salon for over a year and a half before slowly transitioning into vet med. She is still new to the vet field, but has loved being able to learn and grow her skills. Being able to work under amazing veterinarians as well as technicians has been Taylor’s favorite part of working for Colonial Animal Hospital. When not at work, Taylor loves spending time with her family and golden doodle, Jersey.
April
Veterinary Assistant
April grew up in Old Bridge, New Jersey, and always had a love for animals. She became a vet tech 6 years ago, and has a passion for caring for animals and helping pet owners. She recently joined CAH in December 2024 and has enjoyed advancing her skills. At home, she has 4 rescue cats, and she’s lucky to have a wonderful family—her husband, son, new daughter-in-law, and father—all of whom keep April grounded and supported. When she’s not working, she loves spending time at the beach and riding around in her family’s jeep.
Hanna
Veterinary Assistant
Hanna grew up in Millstone, NJ, and has been working in the veterinary field since 2019. She joined Colonial Animal Hospital in December 2024. Before entering the veterinary profession, Hanna began her career in pet care as a dog walker and pet sitter. Growing up surrounded by animals, including dogs, rabbits, and horses, Hanna developed a deep passion for animal care early on. Her love for animals began when she started horseback riding at the age of 5. She currently owns two English Setters, Jack and Ginger. Outside of work, she enjoys walking her dogs and spending time at the beach.
Alaina
Veterinary Assistant
Alaina is an avid animal lover who owns many of her own pets, including a miniature pig, Omelette! Having grown up in a family that owned a restaurant/bar, Alaina saw firsthand what it meant to rescue animals, as her father would feed the local stray cats and find homes for the kittens. She continued the tradition, and in 2008 started a 5013c non-profit animal rescue called Cuddly Creatures Inc. Through her work there, she built close relationships with area veterinarians, and was eventually asked to work as a surgical assistant/technician, and grew into the role of practice manager. Alaina took a break from the veterinary field during the pandemic, working with her partner for his business, but missed it, and made her way back here as a tech, where we are lucky to have her!
Micki
Veterinary Assistant
Micki began her career working with animals as a zookeeper after graduating from college. She spent time at both the Jacksonville Zoo and ZooAtlanta, and then was hired by Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where she spent more than 20 years before moving back to New Jersey with her cat, Kitten. Micki joined the Colonial staff in July of 2022 as a vet assistant.
